Art that refuses to play along

Art is what happens when you refuse to conform.

You want work as unique as the life you’ve actually lived.
This art doesn’t ask you to fit in; it stands out with you.

Paintings shaped by land, light, and what actually happened

I’ve always noticed what most people rush past—color in a garden, light sliding across a wall, the quiet work of hands. Painting is how I refuse to let those moments disappear.

Life has taken me from Southern California to Washington State and now Kansas. Desert, ocean, mountains, plains—none of them are just backdrop. They hold memory, labor, loss, and hope, and they keep showing up in the work.

I paint mostly in acrylic and oil on canvas, using brush and palette knife to build texture and movement you can feel, not just see. Light and dark sit together on the surface—the parts of us that are open and the parts that stay guarded—without needing to be resolved.

If places or moments have marked you too, you’ll probably recognize something here.

The Power of Color

Color isn’t just for decoration; it’s emotion, memory, and mood woven into every brushstroke. Discover how the right art can transform your home into a space that feels truly you.

My original paintings can be seen in person at images Art Gallery, a non-profit co-op gallery dedicated to supporting art and artists in the community.

  1. I had a wonderful experience purchasing a Pat Forbes original and meeting her. Her art is very uplifting and fun to hang on my walls. Thank you Pat!
