Autumn Shore

Autumn Shore

There is a particular quiet that arrives at the coastline in autumn.
“Autumn Shore” comes from that quiet—a return to the place where the year begins to fold in on itself and the water holds a softer light.

This piece began as an acrylic painting on canvas.
A shoreline once filled with children’s voices and passing sails is now held in the steadier, slower light of fall. The color shifts, the tempo drops, and the coast becomes a place of noticing rather than activity.

“Autumn Shore” lingers in the interval between seasons—coastal water, shoreline, and fall color held in a calm that allows for reflection on what has passed and what is still approaching. It is less about spectacle than about staying with a moment that is easy to overlook, and letting it unfold over time.

Like much of my work, this piece started with broad brushstrokes and curiosity rather than a fixed plan. Layers of acrylic were built and adjusted, with frequent pauses to see how the colors were speaking to one another. Structure emerged slowly: a balance between impression and clarity, gesture and restraint. What remains is a coastal landscape that carries both memory of movement and the stillness that follows.

“Autumn Shore” is offered as an open edition matted Giclée print, a considered continuation of the original painting rather than a secondary version of it. The open edition allows the work to live in multiple collections while maintaining its integrity and the consistency of its printing.

Each print is matted and available in two sizes, ready to be framed to your own standards and to sit quietly within a collection that values time, attention, and return.
