Sentinel of the Plains

There’s something hauntingly beautiful about the old windmills that dot the Kansas landscape. They stand in quiet dignity, their blades weathered by time, their purpose long forgotten by modern machinery. And yet, they remain.

My latest acrylic painting, Sentinel of the Plains, honors that steadfast presence. Against a backdrop of rich prairie hues, the windmill rises like a monument to resilience—drawing water, guarding seeds, holding memory. It speaks of labor, legacy, and the quiet strength of those who came before us.

This piece is deeply personal to me. I painted it not just as a landscape, but as a tribute—to the pioneers of Kansas and to the spirit of endurance that still echoes through these open skies.

Let it remind you that even what seems forgotten can still stand proud, rooted in purpose.
