New Palette knife Acrylic Painting
Today I’m introducing Stillness to my open edition giclée prints with mat — a continuation of a painting that began with a simple pull toward color, light, and the kind of winter quiet that asks you to pause.
The original Stillness is acrylic on canvas, drawn from a cityscape in winter. A city at rest.
It was seeded by a snowstorm that moved through the lower Midwest and South — streets emptied, businesses closed, families gathered indoors. That temporary suspension of movement stayed with me, and found its way into this piece.
As with much of my work, it began with broad strokes and curiosity rather than a fixed plan. Layers of acrylic were added and pared back, with frequent distance — stepping away to see how the colors were holding together, where the light wanted to settle. What remains is a balance of structure and looseness, somewhere between impressionism and a quiet refusal to make every edge behave.
